North Alabama Is a Humid Climate
The Tennessee Valley runs hot and humid in summer and cold enough in winter to matter. Heat and moisture move through the same weak points, and most of what a house wastes escapes around the insulation rather than through it.
That is why air sealing matters more here than raw R-value. A sealed attic and a dry crawl space do more for a power bill than adding another layer of batts over the same leaks.
